The Banjara are a nomadic (gypsy) people from northern India. Banjara culture symbolizes freedom and commitment to their nomadic identity. They have very defined tribal jewelry and their way of dressing is colorful and beautiful. Bells are used to attract prosperity and joy. The tinkling of ghungroos is not only ornamental, but represents the feminine presence in the home and is even a form of communication, a wordless language. In Ayurvedic medicine, it is also believed that they help balance body energy.
