Bag made entirely by hand by an indigenous community from Papua New Guinea. This community lives in the Southern Highlands, in the Mendi province, in the village of Pangia.
Their customs are deeply rooted in the land; their life is one of gatherers/hunters. They wear practically no clothes. Their worldview is very similar to that of Australian aborigines. They share much of their mysticism and mythological legends, and their attachment to nature.
These bags are made completely by hand. Not only the weaving of the bag but also the spinning is entirely artisanal and primitive, without the use of a spinning wheel or loom. The knots and finishes that prove their authenticity can be appreciated.
It is resistant yet lightweight.
