Beautiful handmade Egyptian necklace/amulet composed of a Ushabti figure medallion.
This long necklace is made from what archaeologists call “faience,” which is a mixture of sand, lime, and copper that was glazed in antiquity. In this case, it is a rustic, unglazed version crafted in the artisan workshops of Saqqara.
The earthy and greenish tones evoke the colors of the Nile’s soil and the ancient pottery of Ancient Egypt.
Golden beads are interspersed, contrasting with the clayey and rustic tone of the beads.
Inspired by the ancient funerary statuettes of Pharaonic Egypt, this necklace combines clay beads with this pendant representing a Ushabti, a symbol of protection and continuity of the soul.
