Sale!AgotadoThe Sasak tribe is the ethnic group native to the island of Lombok in Indonesia. It is an ethnic group with very marked traditions, very endogamous, and that still preserves its way of life practically intact. It is a people of gatherers and livestock farmers. Men are dedicated to rice cultivation during the rainy season and soybean cultivation during the dry season, as well as caring for livestock. Women are dedicated to childcare and fundamentally to weaving with an ancestral technique passed down from generation to generation. They spin cotton yarn with a manual spindle, dye it with vegetable dyes such as indigo, turmeric, and tamarind, and weave it on a precise but rudimentary loom. Each family weaves with its own colors and geometric patterns specific to its clan. It was a pleasure to share with them and for them to teach me their way of working and seeing life. From this coexistence with them, I have brought these hand-woven and hand-dyed ponchos. They are small textile jewels for people who value handmade items. One thing that surprises me greatly is how similar these geometric patterns of the Sasak are to those of Latin American peoples, given the geographical and cultural distance between both peoples. Sale!AgotadoBag made entirely by hand by an indigenous community from Papua New Guinea. This community lives in the Southern Highlands, in the province of Mendi, in the village of Pangia. Their customs are deeply rooted in the land; their life is that of gatherers/hunters. They wear practically no clothes. Their worldview is very similar to that of Australian aborigines. They share much of their mysticism and mythological legends and their attachment to nature. These bags are made entirely by hand. Not only the weaving of the bag but also the spinning is completely artisanal and primitive, without the use of a spinning wheel or loom. The knots and finishes that prove their authenticity can be appreciated. In the case of this bag, it has this shape because its primitive use was to carry babies on the back while working, leaving the hands free. The strap is attached to the forehead and falls down the back. It can now be used as a normal crossbody bag. This bag, in addition to the characteristic hand-spun fabric, includes shed fur from wild possums that they collect in their burrows, incorporated into the weaving, which makes it even more special. It is resistant yet lightweight. A true beauty of the genuine and handmade. The colors and geometric shapes are unique to this indigenous community. Zipper closure as the only concession to modernity.

AgotadoAsymmetrical long reversible coat with an oversized Kimono cut, crafted from traditional antique Indian textiles using the Kantha technique. Kantha is a traditional technique from Eastern India that involves layering several pieces of recycled cotton from antique saris and joining them with hand-stitched running stitches. These stitches not only reinforce the fabric but also create a characteristic rhythmic pattern. It's an ancestral technique of upcycling and resourcefulness that has existed for centuries, long before it was conceptualized in the way we understand it today. Regarding the design, these coats are a prime example of my style's essence. I love to mix styles, blend feminine and masculine elements, trends, textures, and cultures. I believe that mixing always enriches. These kimonos aim to unite the two countries that likely have the most influence on my personality, yet are both distinct and profoundly different: India, my beloved, and exquisite Japan. With this design, I intended to create a Japanese Kimono structure and style, with substance, but using a fabric that represents richness and culture for me, which is Indian Kantha. The result is unique pieces that evoke a taste for Japanese aesthetics while possessing the opulence of India. A powerful blend that makes any outfit special. As these coats are perfectly reversible, they offer two different styles in the same garment, combining unique prints and very special colors. Each piece is unique, exclusive, and timeless, perfect for those seeking to dress with identity and character. Patch pockets. One size fits all.

Sale!AgotadoPoncho made from an antique Rabari shawl. The Rabari are a nomadic people living between Gujarat and Rajasthan in India. They are known for being an ethnic group deeply attached to their ancestral traditions, their distinctive way of dressing, and the characteristic tattoos that women wear on their faces, necks, and décolletage. Their nomadic way of life follows the same routes and patterns from ancient times, and they are highly respected for their rich textile craftsmanship and very personal and recognizable jewelry. Rabari shawls are essentially wedding shawls. They feature the same patterns that the women tattoo on their faces, necks, and décolletage. These are usually geometric or nature-inspired shapes constructed from dots. These tattoos and/or decorations hold immense symbolism. They reflect aspects of their cultural identity, social status, and spiritual beliefs. The connection between the tattoos and the patterns on their shawls reflects the deep union between their body and textile art. Additionally, these shawls feature intricate embroidery and handmade decorations that serve as protective amulets, connect with their beliefs, their life in nature, and seek to attract good, evoking fertility and abundance. They are made of rustic pure boiled wool, entirely by hand, of course, and are one size fits all. As it is a poncho, there is no issue with sizing.

Sale!AgotadoBeautiful handmade Egyptian necklace/amulet composed of a large scarab beetle-shaped medallion carved from soapstone and small scarab beetles interspersed on the alpaca chain. The main scarab is set in a braided metal frame typical of 20th-century Egyptian settings intended for artisanal jewelry inspired by pharaonic models. The reverse of the scarab beetles feature hieroglyphic and symbolic inscriptions. Soapstone is a soft, beige-colored stone used since the Middle Kingdom (c. 2000 BC) in Egypt for carving scarab beetles, as the scarab beetle is one of the emblematic amulets of ancient Egypt. It is associated with the god Khepri, the morning form of the sun. It represents the power of rebirth and renewal. This necklace is an antique, handcrafted piece from the 1960s, made in the artisan workshops of Luxor that produced jewelry based on archaeological findings. Of course, it is not a pharaonic antiquity, but it is a very powerful ethnographic jewel with great cultural value and as an amulet. Wearing amulets with scarab beetles was very common in Egyptian culture because they believed it renewed vital energy, repelled evil and misfortune, favored inner strength, and provided protection to travelers.

Sale!AgotadoI chose this name for this earring because "Ngumpie" means "BEAUTY" in the Barkindtji Aboriginal language. I couldn't think of a name that defines it better. It is handmade by the women of this Aboriginal ethnic group with shed Emu feathers. This bird is emblematic of Australia. For indigenous communities, it has spiritual and mythological significance. The Emu appears in the stories of the Dreamtime, which is the spiritual and cosmological belief system of Aboriginal people. It symbolizes strength and survival. Its ability to endure, to find water and food in arid conditions, makes it a kind of sacred figure for them. The three seeds that adorn the feathers are Desert Quandong seeds, which have been ancestrally used for ceremonies or amulets signifying the connection of the land with the ancestors. To finish this small work of art, it has a spiral made with natural fibers. Spirals hold great significance for indigenous communities and are reproduced in all their works of art. They signify connection, journey, time, and the continuity of life. They reflect the constant flow of energy and the connection between people, the land, and the ancestors. Everything is interconnected, and life is a journey, a cycle, a continuous spiral. The earring has a standard brass earring hook to secure it in the ear, and despite its size, it weighs absolutely nothing. This earring is not sold as a pair. If you want the pair, you must purchase two pieces. It is an authentic work of art, loaded with symbolism and history.

It is a piece with great symbolic weight that connects with the deep ancestral spirituality of the Nile.

Sale!AgotadoAsymmetrical long reversible coat with an oversized Kimono cut, crafted from traditional antique Indian textiles using the Kantha technique. Kantha is a traditional technique from Eastern India that involves layering several pieces of recycled cotton from antique saris and joining them with hand-stitched running stitches. These stitches not only reinforce the fabric but also create a characteristic rhythmic pattern. It is an ancestral technique of upcycling and resourcefulness that has existed for centuries, long before such concepts were consciously considered. Regarding the design, these coats are a prime example of my style's essence. I love to mix styles, blend the feminine with the masculine, trends, textures, and cultures. I believe that mixing always enriches. These kimonos aim to unite the two countries that likely have the most influence on my personality, yet are both distinct and profoundly different: India, my beloved, and exquisite Japan. With this design, I intended to create a Japanese Kimono structure and style, with a defined form, but using Kantha fabric, which represents richness and culture from India for me.

AgotadoOpen dress made of rustic cotton inspired by the textile silhouettes of the nomads of Western India, especially the Rabari people. The piece stands out for its antique, hand-embroidered bibs from remote regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan, where hand embroidery is part of their cultural identity. Each panel is in itself a work of art of tight embroidery in which mirrors, beads, and tassels are sometimes incorporated, adding luminosity, texture, and character. Different textile languages from Western India coexist in these pieces: There are embroideries of a more tribal tradition, with mirrors as a protective and amulet symbolism to capture light, and there are other pieces with embroideries of even denser and more ornamental compositions, of Mughal influence. Each piece is unique and unrepeatable. One size fits all. Open at the front.
